Massive Attack latest offering has some similarities to what the group has done in the past, but overall, is a radical shift in music-making. The band has moved away from trip-hop to future-shock fatalism. The opener “Pray for Rain,” features TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe singing of failing systems and “Saturday Come Slow” sees Damon Albarn on vocals. Overall Heligoland lacks the majesty and might of classic Massive Attack but it is still a very decent listen.
