Classic Albums – Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness

Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins is two disk album loosely based around the cycle of life and death, though Billy Corgan states that it’s about the human condition of mortal sorrow. He wrote the album to sum up all the things he felt as a youth but was never able to voice articulately; which makes this an amazing insight into the childhood of a rock star. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is a powerful album full of strong emotions and real, identifiable feelings. The sounds on this albums is almost ’70s heavy metal and art rock drawing some inspiration from rock, pop, folk, and even classical music. One of my all time favourite albums; a definite must have album.
